Pre-Start Lifting Gear Inspection: A 5-Minute Daily Checklist That Prevents Incidents

A 5-minute pre-start lifting gear inspection is one of the easiest ways to stop small defects from turning into big incidents. Start by checking the tag and WLL, then do a quick visual sweep for bends, cracks, corrosion, cuts, or missing parts. Pay extra attention to hook latches, shackle pins, wire rope “meat hooks,” and synthetic sling abrasion—these are the sneaky issues that get missed when people are rushing.
